Our church is committed to honouring and respecting the environment. To that end we have developed an Environmental Policy which recommends to the Church and its members, a path follow. The church has committed to reviewing and extending the policy, as appropriate, at regular intervals.
Five Leaf Eco Awards were presented to five Western Australian churches at an inaugural ceremony On May 12th 2012. The Five Leaf Eco Award had already made its mark on the eastern seaboard for several years. The Downs Church was one of the recipients, receiving the basic award and the Eco-Worship award, together with 
a symbolic pot-plant and a one-off plaque marking the historic nature of the occasion. Tania Watson, Executive Minister of Churches of Christ in WA, assisted Jessica Morthorpe, Director of the project, in the presentations to the Wembley Downs church. The ceremony was hosted by St Luke’s Anglican Church at Mosman Park, preceded by refreshments in the adjoining community garden organised by the parish.
